Mr. Rogers was my favorite show. I used to watch it sitting upside down. Somewhere my mom still has a picture of me like that.

The Smurfs! I wore Smurf PJs and a matching bathrobe and woke up early on Sat. morning to watch. 🙂

I grew up with Captain Kangaroo and Sailor Bob ( you’re very Richmond if you remember that one!). Somewhere in there was Romper Room, with the magic of the host being able to “see” you (“Romper bomper stomper boo….”). But my oldest grew up without the luxury of a VCR, so he watched Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers twice a day. I remember writing a letter to Mr. Rogers telling him how much my son loved the show, but lost interest during the Land of Make Believe part. Mr. Rogers replied with a very personal letter explaining child development and the concept of real and make believe. I was so touched by his response. He’ll always hold a special place in our hearts.
