In the second and final season of Syfy’s Superman prequel Krypton, David S. Goyer’s created series finds Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) battling against the evil General Dru-Zod of Kandor (Colin Salmon). Seg-El isn’t alone though, because he has time-traveling Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) and a host of other Kryptonites to rally. But there are new baddies, too, and while Seg-El’s fate may be predetermined by what DC Comics fans already know, he’s not going down without a fight.
While Seg-El already has Brainiac (Blake Ritson) to deal with, the bounty hunter Lobo (Emmett J. Scanlan) shows up seeking revenge on Brainiac and Doomsday (Staz Nair) is created by some Kryptonian scientists. One might say that Seg-El has an entire League of Villains to deal with, and his would-be compatriots can hardly be considered in agreement. Still, this is what it takes to see a planet destroyed, isn’t it?
In the special features department, Krypton Season 2’s Blu-ray package includes several featurettes. “The Fate of Superman” allows Goyer to reflect on the history of Superman through Seg-El’s decisions over choosing Krypton or the universe as the bigger good, and “Villains: Modes of Persuasion” tackles the motivation of the different villains that Seg-El must battle.
