Alexander Aja (The Hills Have Eyes,?High Tension,?Horns) is back directing young actors in new ways, here, with a trippy story about a catastrophe-stricken young boy who may have deeper issues in?The 9th Life of Louis Drax.?
Louis Drax (Aiden Longworth) mostly tells his own story, with a smattering of other narration viewpoints that may or may not be the truth. It’s hard to say when most of what we’re hearing is from a nine-year-old boy who is in a coma after a startling fall. But Dr. Pascal (Jamie Dornan,?Fifty Shades of Grey) is out to figure out what’s really going in inside the boy, so ‘science’ enters the fray. Still, Louis’ estranged parents, Peter (Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad) and Natalie (Sarah Gadon), also seem complicated – and worthy of a detective’s (Molly Parker) interest into the strange happenings.
Strange, tough, and … supernatural,?The 9th Life of Louis Drax?probably isn’t what you think it is – but it’s hard to nail down as just one thing anyway.
Special feature: The ‘making of’ featurette.?
