Finally, it’s time to head back to the wonderful world of Saint-Pierre.

Back on CBC on January 5th, 2026 (and CBC Gem on the 7th), Saint-Pierre sees the return of Donny ‘Fitz’ Fitzpatrick (Allan Hawco) and Deputy Chief Genevieve ‘Arch’ Archambault (Josephine Jobert) as they continue on after the events of last season. After finally building the trust between themselves, Arch and Fitz are now trying to resettle their team in an unsettled police precinct. But things continue to spiral when shadows from Fitz’s past begin to resurface, forcing him to step into a world that he wishes would move on without him.

Admittedly, there continues to be something unique about Saint-Pierre. There’s a genuine charm about the series that, even in its most serious moments, still shines through. Set within the quaintness of its geographically-odd setting, this continues to be a series that’s willing to go into the dark corners of its fictionalized community. Like other crime procedurals, Saint-Pierre revels in stories of crime and corruption. Even so, the strange inter-global relations that actually exist in Saint-Pierre adds its own special wrinkle into the show’s formula.

But, make no mistake, the true joy of Saint-Pierre really lies in the chemistry between Hawco and Jobert. Together, the two have created a delightful dynamic that is necessary in the best of procedurals. While both characters have their secrets, there’s a playfulness that has been built between them that continues to spark onscreen. Both bring a confidence to their characters that makes them unique yet they still function better when together. The trust between performers builds genuine chemistry that makes them easy to love – and season two only continues to build upon it.

Yet, more than the evolution of their relationship, the return of Saint-Pierre still has more to explore within its characters. After the events of last season, these characters find themselves wrestling with the toll that the job takes upon them. For Arch, the challenge seems to lie within the realizations about her father and the depth of corruption within the force.

But, for Fitz, the truth feels just as personal.

Having built the necessary trust with the team around him, season two begins to explore the challenges that his life in the undercover world have had on him. Beyond sleepwalking, Fitz must wrestle with a life he’d rather forget when his past comes back to haunt him. While it’s not atypical that shows would deal with ‘secrets from the past’, Saint-Pierre’s strong character work shows the effect that Fitz’s other life has taken upon his current life. Without giving spoilers, Fitz’s two worlds collide in a way that shakes him in the moment and looks to shape the future as well.

This focus on character has always defined the series and, thankfully, looks to continue with the next season. Yes, there are many crime procedurals on television but Saint-Pierre’s beautiful chemistry keeps the series elevated into something that sets it apart from the pack. In short, it continues to be worth the trip to the islan.

The second season of Saint-Pierre begins on CBC on Monday, January 5th, 2026 and airs on CBC Gem on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026..
