Home Alone 2 – Lost in New York 25th Anniversary

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York?is?the follow-up to Macauley Culkin’s hit?Home Alone, where he fended off two crazed robbers as Kevin, a kid stranded at home without his family. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern return as his nemeses, Harry Lime and Marv Merchants, only this time, they’re in a battle through the Plaza Hotel and Central Park in New York City. Still crazy and hilarious twenty-five years later, Fox releases a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Combo Pack to entertain a new generation of Christmas hopefuls.

My children love Kevin’s hijinks – and the fact that he rises up against the nefarious forces of these two good-for-nothing bandits. It’s a hilarious movie, filled with funny scenes (and various stages of bubblegum) and Rob Schneider. But it’s also a lesson in the way we’re in this together.

There’s the kindness of Eddie Bracken’s E.F. Duncan, and the lesson of the Pigeon Lady (like the lesson involving the old, grieving neighbor in the first one). It’s helpful to see that this is about Christmas, but it’s also about the way we love, the way we live, and the way we treat other people. It’s not about karma, but it’s about commonality and community and … Christmas.
