Baby Driver: Finding Your Muse

Baby Driver?has style, much like its proponent. Full of splashy action and a solid soundtrack, it races to the front of action films in the last few years.

When?Baby (Ansel Elgort), a getaway driver with a troubling past, meets the young diner waitress, Debora (Lily James), he sets in motion a series of events that will put him on the wrong side of Doc (Kevin Spacey), his criminal boss and a host of other nefarious characters, played by the likes of Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx.

With stunning visuals and music, we’d forgive director Edgar Wright if he mailed it in on the script. But there’s a beautiful love story here conveyed over music, and around disability, because Baby has tinnitus from the accident that robbed him of both parents. This makes us realize that things which Baby struggles are the same and different from our own, all at the same time.

Wildly entertaining and musically uplifting, the story will ask us to consider the impact of the past on the present and the future, and keep our toes tapping at the same time. Baby has his music all along, but it’s not until he finds Deborah that he finds his muse, that he realizes he can claim life for himself and truly live. When he chooses to embrace that, he comes to find life itself, even if he might lose it in the process.

Special features include standard bits like commentary with director Edgar Wright and director of photography Bill Pope and twenty minutes of extended/deleted scenes. But it has so much more on the Blu-ray/DVD Combo pack like:?

“Mozart In A Go-Kart: Ansel Drives” where Elgort worked to adapt the lessons of the stunt drivers;

“I Need A Killer Track: The Music” and “Find Something Funky On There: The Choreography” that shows how the music impacted the script itself and all the moves that followed.?

“That’s My Baby: Edgar Wright” where we see how Wright has worked on the ideas behind the film for twenty years.?

“Meet Your New Crew: Doc’s Gang” as Spacey, Foxx, Hamm, Gonzalez, and Bernthal became the power core of crime, and “Devil Behind The Wheel: The Car Chases” made the road matter.??

And finally, “Annotated Coffee Run Rehearsal” that shows how the opening scenes images and choreography were all brought together.??
